According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner. Over a years’ time, this ends up being more than 10 million victims. One in five women in the United States have been subjected to the horrors of rape with almost half (47%) of them being at the hands of someone they knew. Of course, so many cases are not reported given the most dangerous time for the woman is the moment she decides to run toward safety and honestly, our justice system so often miserably fails the victims of this particular crime.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
I will be using my adventures and my writing as an opportunity to raise awareness and donate to a cause very personal and near to my heart- Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women, which acts as an umbrella foundation that serves the battered, the abused, and the trafficked. There are three ways you can help:
1. All donations that are submitted via the MCBW donation site will go to the non-profit. (Note: Please reference my name or my Meraki project in the comments of your donation for accounting purposes) No amount or percentage is kept for myself.
2. There is a PayPal link available for those of you who may already contribute to this type of charity and/or still wish to contribute to my personal expenditures to keep me going strong. (food, emergencies, replacements, recovery.)
I’m excited for this endeavor and have been working hard to prepare and plan for its success. Thank you so much for exploring this site and for contributing to a very worthy cause. Feel free to send me questions or words of encouragement here or via any of my social media links on this site.
